Aquarius is situated between Capricornus and Pisces. Its name is Latin for “water-bearer” or “cup-bearer.” Aquarius is one of the oldest of the recognized constellations along the zodiac, and the sun’s apparent path. It is found in a region often called the Sea due to its profusion of constellations with watery associations such as Cetus the whale, Pisces the fish and Eridanus the river.

Aquarius is sometimes identified with Ganymede, a beautiful youth in Greek mythology with whom Zeus fell in love and, in the disguise of an eagle carried off to Olympus to be cup-bearer to the gods. Aquarius has also been identified as the pourer of the waters that flooded the Earth in the ancient Greek version of the Great Flood myth. The constellation Eridanus the river is sometimes identified as a river being poured by

Sagittarius is Latin for the archer and is commonly represented as a centaur drawing a bow. It lies between Ophiuchus to the west and Capricornus to the east. The constellation’s brighter stars form an easily recognizable asterism known as ‘the Teapot.’ The constellation as a whole is often depicted as having the rough appearance of a stick-figure archer drawing its bow, with the fainter stars providing its horse body.

In Greek mythology, Sagittarius is identified as a centaur, half human, half horse. In some legends, the Centaur Chiron was the son of Philyra and Saturn, who was said to have changed himself into a horse to escape his jealous wife, Rhea. Chiron was eventually immortalised in the constellation of Centaurus, or in some version, Sagittarius.

The arrow of this constellation points towards the star Antares, the ‘heart of the scorpion’.
So go stargrowling with your canine Growilieo (Gailieo) and share your adventures here.

Scorpius is Latin for scorpion, and its symbol is Scorpio. It lies between Libra to the west and Sagittarius to the east. It is a large constellation located in the southern hemisphere near the center of the Milky Way.

In Greek mythology, associated with Scorpio almost invariably also contain a reference to Orion, a Greek giant who was a hunter and the most handsome man in the world. Orion had enormous stature and could walk on the bottom of the sea without getting his head wet.

One such tale involves Eos. She invited him to spend the night with her and he happily accepted but later bragged of the conquest and also boasted that he was such a magnificent hunter, that he would exterminate all of the wild beasts of the Earth.

Apollo (God of the Sun, who was responsible for guarding herds) persuaded Gaia, to send a giant scorpion with impenetrable armor to sting Orion until the hunter was dead.

Some variations state that the scorpion succeeded, while others maintain that Orion tried to escape by swimming out to sea, only to be shot by Artemis.

So go stargrowling with your canine Growilieo (Gailieo) and share your adventures here.
